We match West Yorkshire’s unpaid carers with quality, free breaks — generously given by businesses that care.
We work to recognise the 400,000 unpaid carers in our region who quietly give so much — at great personal cost. These are family members, friends, and neighbours who care for loved ones, without pay and all too often without recognition.
We give them something simple, yet so meaningful — a break. This is only made possible by the kindness of businesses that generously give breaks, experiences, and services that directly benefit a community, where burnout is a constant risk.

Unpaid Carers save the UK economy over £160 billion each year — yet 4 in 10 live in poverty
3 in 5 people in the UK will become unpaid carers at some point in their lives
Willing businesses across the hospitality, leisure, tourism, and culture sectors gift breaks, experiences, and services free of charge.
Our consortium of 5 local care organisations, which provide information, advice, and support for carers, will match an individual with a break that suits their needs and support them with other aspects of their caring role.
On the date of the booking, the carer will come to your establishment, either by themselves, with a friend, family member, or person they care for, and enjoy some valuable time away from their caring routine.
Give what you can, when you can, as often as you can. It’s easy to be involved, and you set the parameters.

If you work outside of the hospitality, leisure, tourism, and culture sectors, you have the option to fund a break.

If you are an unpaid carer living in West Yorkshire and you are aged 18 and over, we invite you to get in touch.

Of unpaid carers said a break would enable them to rest, recharge, and look after their own health.
Breaks were given to unpaid carers in Scotland last year by our mirror service and model for excellence, Respitality.
Breaks have been given to The Caring Kind Project since its launch. Help us grow and care for those who care for others.
